Handsome Boy
This morning while I was combing Ben's hair I said to him, "Where did you get so handsome from?" He looked at me all exasperated and said, "Remember mom, we just don't know."
"Outstanding"
We took the boys up to Red Butte Gardens for Garden After Dark. There was a little maze that Reed was running through and he turned to my dad and said, "Pa, this is outstanding".

Mr. Chatter
Reed has been talking more and more over the last few weeks. His new favorite phrase is, "Mom, stop talking a me". He says it all the time, even if I'm not talking to him. Sometimes he says, "I need quiet, stop talking a me." He's two years old and he already doesn't want to listen to a word I have to say. It would be quite sad except that he has also started coming up to me and putting his little hands on my face and saying, "I happy, I wuv you." We love our little Reed and his new found vocabulary! I hope he never stops chattering!

Computer Savvy
A few days ago I was looking through a sticker book with Reed. If he wanted to go back and look at a page that we had already seen he would say, "Go back to the homepage".

Goodest Mom
Last night Ben came up to me and said, "You are the goodest mom in the whole world". I said thank you and pulled him onto my lap for a big hug. Ted's friend Mike was over at the time so Ben said, "Don't let Mike see you hug me or he will fall in love too". We all got a good laugh out of it!

Too much Michael?
You know you've been listening to too much Michael Jackson when you get in the car and your 2 year old says, "I want Billie Jean and turn it up."

What about a bully?
Ben starts Kindergarten tomorrow, so tonight Ted and I talked to the boys about school. We asked them what they would do if someone wasn't being nice to them.
Their responses:
Ben, "Tell them to be nice"
Reed, "Kick 'em"
Their responses:
Ben, "Tell them to be nice"
Reed, "Kick 'em"

bighugkiss
Before Reed goes to bed or down for a nap he has to give everyone a "bighugkiss". It is his way of stalling bedtime. Sometimes he even wakes up in the night yelling, "mommy, daddy, bighugkiss." Even though we know he is manipulating us, we find it hard to resist his "bighugkiss"!

Really sick
Reed has a bad cold and an ear infection. This morning he woke up and pooped in his pull-up. I said to him, "uh-oh, why did you poop in your pull-up?". He looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "I really, really, really, really sick."

good news...bad news
Ben was looking for his Leapster this morning. I told him that I thought Reed left it in Pa's car. He said to me, "The bad news is that it is in Pa's car, the good news is that it is morning time and we have phones."

selfish woman
We got home from the pool today and I was running around trying to get everyone's shoes and swimming suits off, get Reed down for a nap, check messages, etc. Basically just being a mom. Through all of this Ben keeps asking me to get him some paper. Finally I said to him, "You need to get your own paper, can't you see I'm running around like a banshee?!" He just looked at me and said, "no, you are running around like a selfish woman." I'm just hoping that he doesn't really know the definition of selfish.

a spoonful of sugar
Benton and Reed have both been sick and Ben HATES taking his medicine. Last night I was trying to get him to take his medicine and it becomes this huge, long ordeal. So long and painful in fact, that Reed volunteers to take Ben's medicine for him. In the middle of tears and screaming Ben says to me, "what are you trying to do to me woman?! You know I'm not used to medicine!"

Destiny?
Yesterday Reed was smelling the tulips in the garden and Ben said to him, "Don't smell the flowers or you will take away their destiny and they will die!" Okay, then...

listen to mommy
Today Benton randomly says to Ted; "You should always listen to Mommy, because if you do things will always get much better". I'm glad Ben feels this way about me even though he doesn't always act like it. Although, it could be that he said this because about two minutes earlier I told him we could make chocolate chip cookies. Still...

much better
Yesterday we explained General Conference to Benton and Reed and then gave them a coloring packet and sat down to watch. A couple minutes into it Ben was coloring away when he turned to us and said, "this is much more better than church." He actually sat through 50 minutes of the first session before he even got bored. I know a lot of people that feel the same way as he does!
"skanks"
When Reed says "thanks" it comes out sounding like "skanks". It is pretty funny and it makes people that don't know him give us funny looks.

out of sight
Ben started swimming lessons today. Afterward I told him he did a great job swimming but that he needed to listen to his teacher a little better and not talk to the kids as much. He looked at me and said, "Honey, you just shouldn't watch me."

fuss-pot?
Ben tried to wake Ted up this morning (those of you that know Ted know that this is not an easy thing to do). Ben came up to me and said, "He won't wake up, that big old fuss pot!" Who knows where he got that from!
What an imagination
We put Ben to bed the other night and about 25 minutes later he got up. I went to ask him why he was up and this is what he said: "I heard a noise in the house that sounded exactly like an alien spaceship, so I started thinking that the spaceship is probably black with yellow polka-dots on it." Clearly...

Ben's growing vocabulary
Benton and Reed got in a little fight today (well, they fight everyday) but this time Ted got upset with them. Ben was crying because Reed hit him, threw his pillow down and then Daddy was angry with him. I was holding him when he said, "I have a hateful brother (sob, sob), he threw my pillow down and pushed my quarter under the fridge (sob, sob), I have a hurtful and hateful brother."
Earlier today he told me that peanut butter sandwiches make him nauseous.
Yesterday he said to Pa, "I am a genius, I know more about bikes than you do."
A few days ago he opened a DVD case where the DVD was missing and he yelled, "Damnit!" (Let's hope he doesn't repeat that one!)
I don't know where he is learning all these words?!

My Woman!
Today I was relaxing on the bed with one boy on each side of me. Ben would reach down and give me a kiss and then Reed would do the same. Ben started repeatedly kissing me on the cheek and Reed pushed his head away. Ben got a little huffy and said, "he thinks you are his woman!". While trying not to laugh I had to explain to Ben that they were both my boys and I was their mommy. I'm glad they both love me so much now and want to give me kisses because I know it can't last forever! Maybe someday they'll be embarrassed when I tell this story to their girlfriends!

Improving
I'm feeling a little sorry for Ben's primary teacher. Last week Ben raised his hand and said, "This is boring, can we talk about Star Wars?" She informed him that Star Wars was not part of the lesson and moved on. Soon she had the kids galloping around the room on their "horse" going to fetch a doctor for Joesph Smith. Ben raised his hand again and said, "Now you are improving". At least I know Ben isn't afraid to speak his mind!

boring
Ben's primary teacher told me that during class on Sunday when she was teaching the lesson, Ben said, "This is boring, can we talk about something else?".
