fussaling
Whenever Emme is "fussy", Reed will say, "Emme is fussaling, give her a binky." I think I now like the word fussaling better than just plain old fussy.

"Cozy"
Reed is into feeling "cozy". He loves wearing pajamas, flannel pants, sweat pants and sweat shirts, etc. Sometimes I have to bribe him in the morning to get dressed. The other day he insisted on wearing two hoodies and flannel pants all day long even though it was 87 degrees outside.

new rules
While driving in the car after church yesterday, Reed says to me, "On my birthday I am going to turn 4 and then when I turn 5 I will get baptized." I of course said, "You can get baptized when you turn 8." Reeds response was, "No, I don't like that, I'm getting baptized when I'm 5." I'm glad he's head strong, but come on now...

Too much truthfulness
Ben walked past me last night and said, "Hmm...your bum is getting bigger too." Thank you for the observation Ben...to bad 6 year olds don't lie.
Sweet Boy
Reed and I have been spending a lot of alone time together since Ben went back to school and Ted went back to work. I have had fun spending some one on one time with him, he has become very chatty and says sweet little things...I thought I should record some.
He puts sunglasses on and puts his face right into my tummy and says, "I can see baby sister smiling at me."
Yesterday he said in a wistful voice, "I can't wait to eat chicken nuggets with baby sister."
As we were leaving his preschool orientation he looked up at me and said, "I just knew I was going to love my school!"
As we were watching a cartoon together, he looks up at me and says, "I love you mommy", and gives me a kiss.
Reed is a happy, fun loving, eager to learn little boy. I am so blessed to be his mom!

nerves
After we put Ben to bed last night, he got up and came into our room. He looked at me and said, "I can't go to sleep. I feel like I'm going to have a bad dream. I just can't calm my nerves."
I wondered, since when do six year old's have nerves to calm?

baby stuff
Reed was laying his head on my stomach, he then says to me, "I can hear your baby kicking, and I can hear it's stomach growling...it wants bananas."
Ben's idea of IKEA
Ben says to John: "Do you want to go to IKEA with us? They have really comfy chairs you can sit in and you don't even have to buy them!"

signs of carsickness
Today Ted let his brother, Chase, drive a stick shift for the first time. Ben was driving with them in the church parking lot. When they got home, Ben said to me, "I got car sick when Chase was driving. Whenever I get carsick my penis hurts. And my penis was hurting so I knew I was carsick."

another mother
I was telling Reed goodbye before I left for book club last night. I said, "You have fun with Daddy, Russ and Ben. Mommy is going to book club." He got a little worried look on his face and said, "We are going to need another mommy around here."

my harshest critic
Today I was interviewed by channel 2 news as the service coordinator for CAP for kids. After I got all ready to go I said to Ted and Reed, "Do I look like I'm ready to be on the news?". Ted said, "you look fabulous," and then Reed said, "you look really fat." Too bad three year old kids don't lie!

blue eyes rule
As Ted is getting Reed in his pajamas, Reed says to him, "Daddy, your green eyes are messed up, you need to get blue eyes."

6 year old weight lifters
This is the conversation that took place in the back seat as I drove Ben and Ashton to school today:
Ashton hands Ben a birthday invitation and then says, "We are going bowling for my party."
Ben says, "I'm not very good at bowling."
Ashton says, "I am, and I'm really strong, I can lift twelve pounds by myself."
Ben pulls up his sleeve to show Ashton his muscle and says, "Me too, I've been working out at my Grandma's house."
Ashton then pulls his sleeve up and says, "I've been working out too."
The whole time I was trying not to burst out laughing in the front seat.

No one and nothing
I was watching a cartoon with Ben that posed the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Ben looked at me and said, "When I grow up I want to be No one and do nothing, just like you!" I guess it's true, a mothers work is never done and never appreciated.

Why change the sheets?
This morning I was changing the sheets on my bed. Reed came in and asked what I was doing. When I told him I was changing the sheets, he looked at me and said, "Oh, you peed." Clearly in his mind the only reason you change sheets is when you wet the bed!
pears are yesterday
This morning I put a new wreath on my front door. Ben was watching me as I was putting it up. After I hung it I turned to him and said, "how does it look?" He studied it for a second and then said, "not with the pears, pears are yesterday."

It's all about the egg
Yesterday Reed asked for a Pop Tart. I gave him one and after he took a bite he decided he didn't want it anymore. So he turned to me and said, "there is egg in here." It didn't matter how many times I told him there wasn't, he still insisted there was. I guess he has been paying attention to our label reading obsession of egg content.

It's all my fault
Today I was playing Mario Brothers with Ben while Reed watched. When we died on one board Reed turned to me and said, "It's your fault." Apparently now even the three year old in the family feels the need to tell me I'm no good at video games.
